Lea-Francis 14/70 Saloon (1951)

Rare and beautiful aluminium-bodied Post-War Sports Saloon with a matching lively twin-cam 1.8 litre engine. Refurbished and ready for use. Part exchange and cash possible.

This is one of the last of the re-shaped 14/70, four cylinder six-light sports saloons of the 180 made and one of less than a dozen surviving. (Chassis 9148, Engine 8803, Reg. June 1951.) It has been refurbished over the period since about 2010 with a new headlining, fuel tank, SU pumps, lights etc. and recent leather treatment and service. The wood and aluminium body has been repaired, the rear spats restyled with fibreglass panelling and new correctly-shaped flashing indicators have been fitted. It is now comfortable to drive on modern roads. There is a file with a useful handbook etc. but limited history. It has had 3 owners and was in the Wakefield area in the 1970’s and in Ireland from about 1998 to 2009. Any further enhancement could include wiring up the spot lights and connecting up the speedometer/odometer which current records only 9k miles. Exchange (say 50%) with a pre-war car may be considered.
