Peugeot 504 cabriolet by Pininfarina (1973)

The 504 cabriolet is one of the most beautiful cars Peugeot ever produced, albeit they were designed and built by Pininfarina in Italy on the rugged 504 mechanicals. This is an early, RHD car with the rugged four-cylinder, fuel injected 2.0 litre engine and the nicer, slanting triple rear lights.

It was resprayed in metallic grey, an official Peugeot shade. The seating is sound, in black vinyl and the hood is a replacement vinyl one (also in black). The wheels are contemporary Peugeot alloys and the car runs as it should. A later, 5-speed box has replaced the original 4-speed which makes for an easier drive. The underneath has been professionally welded in places (see pics) and undersealed. The car is not concourse and shows its age here and there but still looks presentable and certainly turns heads.

These are quite rare cars nowadays, especially in RHD. Authorised conversions were only carried out in the UK up to 1975. The car had an MoT until September last year and is, of course, now exempt from the requirement to have an MoT. With values of good LHD models drifting up towards £30k, this must surely be the next one to go up.
