Aston Martin DB7 Volante convertible (1998)

The name of Aston Martin resonates throughout British automotive history and is one of the true legends. The DB7 is the famous Ian Callum design which effectively saved Aston Martin and put it where it is today. Own a part of the story! This Volante convertible automatic is rather special having Alfred Dunhill upgrading including split rim alloys.

It comes in Antrim Blue, a fetching shade of deep metallic blue, with parchment leather trimmed in Pacific blue and walnut fillets.
Produced over a ten-year period from 1994, the DB7 was a roaring success with over 7,000 built. With a six-cylinder supercharged 3.2 litre engine producing 335bhp and 361 lb ft of torque and a beautifully svelte body, the Aston was reliable and extremely practical as a result.

The hood and tonneau cover are dark blue, while the headlining is buff. All aspects of the body are in good condition commensurate with the age and mileage. The bodywork is overall very good with only minor marks, the hood is the same and the tonneau looks like it has been little used. The hood mechanism works as it should. The leather is nicely worn in with no splits and retains good colour. There are Aston Martin overmats in the front.

The Volante has had four owners and shows a recorded mileage of 85,000. The third owner had it for almost ten years. There is service history with the car: a stamped official handbook showing ten stamps - many at AM Newport Pagnell - up to 50k/2005 (when the car was sold by the Chiltern Aston Centre) and, thereafter, a quantity of separate invoices for further servicing (six) and ancillaries from 2006 onwards showing regular attention. The last owner stated that the car was serviced in July 2014 at 77k when he acquired it. In 2016 it received new plugs, HT leads, fuel filter and two fuel pumps (the latter at a cost of £1,600). The AC was re-gassed in 2015. It has a sheaf of MoT certificates going back to 2005 confirming mileage and the current MoT lasts until the end of June 2017 with no advisories. There is a facia mounted radio/cassette and a boot mounted CD changer. The registration has changed over the years and the current attractive reg no was authorised and attached to the car in 2014 and will be sold with it.

Frequently described as the “affordable Aston”, the values of straight-six DB7s have steadied in recent years and good examples are beginning to fetch serious money on the heels of the costlier V12 Vantage models becoming very expensive. This is a most usable specimen, available in time for Summer cruising and for sale at an attractive price.
