SS Jaguar 2.5 Sports Saloon (1937)

An historically significant car designed by Sir William Lyons and the forerunner of the post-war Jaguar Saloons. A beautiful time-warp in its original Art Deco cream coachwork and pastel green wheels. Unspoilt and running well. Matching numbers, Chassis 13123, Engine 252850.

This car is very solid all round and has a most comfortable interior with soft green leather and matching new headlining and carpets. The coachwork is all solid and appropriate for a hand-built car approaching 80 years old. The chrome is good with the door handles somewhat pitted but again in keeping with its age.
Mechanically it seems excellent with a good strong engine and gearbox. Cruising along the country lanes around here provides an insight into the thrill of driving a well-oiled 1930’s sports car.
The engine/chassis/body numbers check out and it comes with some limited documentation, the early mascot and a handbook. We have done some mechanical fettering, tidied up the front by removing some non-original items, tuned the engine etc and are now selling it as a charmingly original SS Jaguar which should really be kept just as it is and enjoyed. Its rarity ensures its place as an appreciating asset.
